❌ Problem:
We’re big fans of email at Half Baked (for obvious reasons). But email has a problem that’s getting worse every day…spam. Nearly half of the 392.5 billion emails sent daily in 2026 is spam, and only 12% of what lands actually needs a reply.
Attention is the one genuinely scarce thing you own, and your inbox is handing it out for free to anyone who has your address. So…why not charge for it? Here's the idea.
✅ Solution:
A pay-to-reach layer that sits in front of your inbox and charges anyone outside your contacts a fee you set, via Stripe, before their message ever lands.
Point your MX record (or bolt on a Gmail/Outlook add-on) at the gateway, set your price, a symbolic 1 cent to filter bots or $50 to only entertain serious pitches, and known contacts skip the toll entirely while strangers pay to be seen.
Reply within a set window and the sender's money is automatically refunded, so a wanted message ends up costing the sender nothing and only genuine noise actually pays.
