❌ Problem:
The gym industry is a little sinister. Why? Because on average gyms sell memberships to ten times more members than their buildings hold, pricing in the fact that we won’t show up. Unfortunately…they’re right.
That’s the problem - the $60 leaves your account whether you go to the gym twenty times or zero, so the payment stops meaning anything. So why not flip the script and charge people for missing sessions? Here's the idea.
✅ Solution:
A fitness app where you set your gym goal and get charged for missing sessions.
You tell the app your workout goals and record your workouts (or parts of them) in the app (you can also connect to Strava or fitness wearables for the same effect).
You add your credit card and if you miss workouts your card gets charged.

💡 The Half Baked Take: GymPact ran this exact mechanic and died in 2017 owing $940,000 in FTC refunds for charging people who had actually done the workout. So getting the verification mechanic right is everything here.
