❌ Problem:
We’ve all been there - the check engine light comes on, you take your car to the nearest garage, and pay whatever number they say. Unfortunately, you were almost certainly just overcharged for that repair.
Researchers actually tested this by ringing 2,778 shops for an identical car repair and collected 4,603 quotes. Fewer than one in ten shops quoted the same price twice, and anyone who let slip they expected a high price got quoted $35 more. It’s time to level the playing field here. Here's the idea.

A platform where you post a car repair job (make, model, and a photo of the warning light) and local garages bid against each other to win the work.
You start with cars, because the jobs are standardised and quotable over the phone. Once it works, point the same engine at home repairs, where the tickets are bigger and the pricing is even murkier.
